The Army Integrated Pest Management Program is based on three fundamentals at all Army Installations around the world.

  The goal is to reduce the impact of pest species on the health and welfare of Soldiers and their families, real property and other facilities, and training land and resources. 
 

Army Pest Management Consultants

Pest Management Consultants are assigned to the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff of Installation Management (ACSIM), Army Environmental Command (AEC), Office of the Chief of the Army Reserve (OCAR) and the Army National Guard Bureau (NGB).  AEC has four pest management consultants, two are responsible for Installation Management Command (IMCOM) installations in the Continental United States and Pacific Regions; one is responsible for Korean Installations and one is responsible for European Installations.  These consultants are responsible for the certification of applicators, reviewing and technically approving pest management plans and pesticide use.

US Army Public Health Command

The US Army Public Health Command has professional entomologists around the world.  At present, there are six civilian entomologists at the Army Institute of Public Health at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD and are nine civilian entomologists and additional civilian pest management professionals spread throughout five regional public health commands.  Civilian entomologist s together with active duty Army and Army reserve entomologists (commissioned officers) focus on the impact of insects and other pests on the health of soldiers world-wide. The mission of the Entomological Sciences Program at the USAPHC is to foster the prevention of exposure to vector-borne diseases, hazardous plants/animals and pesticides by providing expert diagnostic, investigative and educational services in direct support of Soldiers, their families, the civilian workforce, and public health leadership.
